Delicious at Any Time of the Year
Ancient British cuisine at its best – gloriously simple and wonderfully satisfying. People of these islands have been eating mussels for over 20,000 years. Did you know they were first cultivated here in medieval times using ropes? That method is still going strong today. And so is their appeal. Mussels aren’t just delicious – they’re a low-fat protein, rich in B12 vitamins and Omega-3s.
Mussels West Country is now on our main menu year-round. Fowey mussels have clean, light shells, plump orange meat and a creamy, distinct flavour. They are grown in the highest grade of water quality in the country in the clean ocean waters of St Austell Bay, Cornwall. We are proud to serve them at the Old Exeter Inn.
We cook them in our rich, creamy Cheddar cheese sauce with lots of our own scrumpy! Lamb & Serpent Cider. All served with bread to mop up. As a starter £14.95 and £24.95 as a main with chips. Andsome!
