The Old Exeter Inn, the oldest freehouse in the world, has never gone in for the ordinary. Our customers don’t want the ubiquitous brands that dominate the bars of Britain’s tied houses – and neither do we.

We’re not tied to any brewery. We choose what goes on our drinks line-up with care and attention. Yes, it costs a bit more – but you’re not drinking mass-produced beer. Our stuff, you can actually taste.
A lot of passion goes into these drinks, often from small indie breweries and cider makers up and down the land. Good for Britain. Good for your happiness.

A technician from one of our brewers visited recently and said he’d not seen such a great selection within a hundred miles. That’s a thumbs up from a man whose life is beer.
Ten taps, constantly rotating. Lagers, ciders, stouts, porters, IPAs and all their variants, fruit beers, saisons – even low and no alcohol options. It’s all about the taste.
We also stock a large range of bottled beers from Samuel Smith’s Old Brewery in Tadcaster – the world’s first craft brewery. Superb stuff. Check out our Instagram for updates to the line-up.
