The Old Exeter Inn is proud to be home to the world’s first Doggy Pub. Free-flowing ‘Dog Beer’ straight from the barrel. Doggy Ice Cream. Treats on the house. Your four-legged friend is not just welcome here – they’re celebrated.
We know how difficult it can be to find places that truly welcome your best friend. Even in country pubs. We think it’s time that changed.

David remembers driving for three days through Spain in the heat of summer with his cat, Witherington. The hotels along the way were wonderfully accommodating – litter trays, good food, real care. It meant a lot. That kind of attention to detail builds loyalty.

We hope our little Pooch Pass will encourage well-behaved dog owners to try us out here on Dartmoor. And perhaps other pubs might follow?

Membership Rules
Doggies are welcome in the Bar, Snug and Garden – on a lead and well behaved, please. Water bowls are provided inside and outside. Do call ahead and book a table if you’d like to be indoors. Our phone number is 01364 652013.
