Baccuhus from South Devon is it!
It’s English Wine Week and to celebrate we’ve chosen a smart little number all the way from Modbury in South Devon, just a few miles away from the Old Exeter Inn. ‘Baccuhus’ from the Calancombe Estate!
This elegant wine is made from 100% Bacchus (often referred to as the Sauvignon Blanc of England). It has gentle aromas of grapefruit, gooseberry and a touch of tropical fruit and on the palate is clean and crisp with a touch of peach, gooseberry and citrus.
This wine is small batch stuff. It’s 100% Bacchus harvested from just a 1.4 ha single plot (3400 vines) here in South Devon. Remember small batch producers don’t have the volume of the big growers so it’s a little more expensive. But it’s worth it. This wine is superb and we’re proud to have it on our list!
